What happens after you sign up
- You create an account and fill in your profile — where you work, which issues, and whatever credential your membership rests on.
- A person reviews it. Nothing is published and nobody is matched to anything in the meantime. Each credential is checked against whoever issued it: bar licences against the state bar, court admissions against that court's roll, legislative offices against the chamber roster, lobbying registrations against the public filing, and press affiliations against the masthead or the bylines.
- You are approved and can put your name forward for roles on any campaign you qualify for.
- A project lead confirms the match, and from then on you are working on it.
Why there is a wait
This site carries bar numbers, claims to hold public office, and lobbying registrations, and it connects people with legal problems to the attorneys who may act for them. Publishing an unverified credential, or sending someone to a lawyer who is not admitted where they live, is the specific failure we are set up to avoid. So the unreviewed state is the default, and approval is something a person has to do.
What we do not do
We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. Signing up does not create an attorney–client relationship with us or with anyone listed here, and neither does contacting us. If you have a legal problem with a deadline, do not wait on us — see a lawyer or your local legal aid office now. Our legal disclaimer sets this out in full.
